Dark chocolate apple cake

I enjoy baking..  but as an impatient person I like simple recipes. I rarely make cakes that take a lot of time.

This one is easy to make and it’s not time consuming.


  • 150 g butter (If you don’t have coconot oil, use 200 g butter)
  • 3 tbsp coconut oil
  • 200 g dark chocolate
  • 4 eggs
  • 250 ml sugar
  • 250 ml flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp baking bowder

For the topping

  • 3-4 apples
  • 50 ml farina sugar (sticky brown sugar)
  • 50 ml chopped walnuts


Preheat the oven to 175°C/ 350°F/Fan. 

Melt the butter, add  coconut oil and chocolate chunks. Stir until the chocolate is melted. In a bowl mix together the flour, baking powder and cinnamon. Whisk the eggs with sugar, add the flour mixture and butter-chocolate mixture. Mix until smooth and pour the batter into the cake tin, 26 cm Ø.

Peel and slice the apples and arrange the apple slices over the top of the mixture. Sprinkle over the farina sugar and chopped walnuts. Bake for 45 minutes on a lower rack, until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Sprinkle with icing sugar and serve with vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
